Paint has been part of Human history for the past 20,000 years - right back to the early stone age with their cave paintings. Evidence shoes that around 10,000 years ago the Chinese were perfecting the art of
manufacturing specific colours as required. All around the world different cultures were perfecting their colour production including the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Aztecs etc. Interestingly many civilisations did not name their colours.
Today the language with the most number of unique colour words (i.e. a brand new word - not one taken from something else like grape or avocado) is English with eleven in total - which are: White, Black, Blue, Green, Red, Yellow, Pink, Purple, Brown, Orange and Grey.
